Poconos Snow Tubing

What is Snow Tubing? ....

Snowtubing HillSnow Tubing is a fun, winter, recreational activity where you ride on top of (or tucked inside of, if you are small enough) an inner tube, on snow. The tubes themselves are usually inflated, soft, round, strong rubber tubes, sometimes called "donuts" or "biscuits" because of their shape. Tubing hills are usually a number of "Lanes" on a specifically graded hill that allows for a slightly uncontrolled descent at speeds meant to thrill ending on another opposite grade hill that slows the tube at the end of the decent.

Where in the Poconos can you do Snow Tubing? (We're glad you asked!)

But first, know that unlike skiing or snow boarding, snow tubing is usually sold by "sessions" or parts of the day. When you purchase a ticket to snow tube, you usually do so for a specific number of hours. You should arrive at the beginning of the "session" in order to A. Get tickets (becasue sessions are for limited numbers of people the sessions sometimes sell out and B. So you can get full value for the timed session. Arriving in the middle of the session means you only get the last half. Each resort has different timed sessions, but usually there are morning, afternoon and (when the hill is lit) evening sessions.

The largest tubing hill is at Camelback Mountain Resort in Tannersville, PA 18372

Home to the Biggest Snowtubing Park in the USA Camelback has 42 snow tubing lanes total (not all are open all the time, though.) There are single person tubes that are good for "racing" againt other tubers and double person tubes to allow you to have fun with a friend. Here there are two Magic Carpet Lifts for a speedy flight up the tubing hill. Since Camelback Resort is an easy 1-2 hour drive from NYC, this can be a one day activity or a stay over activity.

The next most fun Snow tubing hill is at Shawnee Mountain Resort in Shawnee, PA

The Pocono Plunge Snow Tubing park has single tubes as well as adult and child tandem tubes* with two conveyor lifts to get you to the top. Here there's more fun, less climbing! Tubes are supplied (like all snow tubing parks) leaving you to smile and have fun.

Then:

Blue Mountain 1660 Blue Mountain Drive Palmerton, PA 18071 610-826-7700

This snowtubing park has a total 21 lanes (not all in service all the time) that are over 1,000 feet long ane 3 lifts. As with all reosrts be sure to check the daily condition report to be sure the weather works for tubing. Nothing screams fun like tubing down a snow covered hill at exhilarating speeds! This is the only tubing park in the Poconos with family-size tubes, so go to Blue Mountain and start making tomorrow’s memories, today.

Snow Tubing fun
